Hello to All,
I took my beater 336 Marlin, in 30-30, to the 'smith for a chop job. I've always been curious as to having a rifle caliber trapper. She' going to be bobbed to 16-3/4" so I can keep 5 in the tube. She had a preference to Federal 170's and Remington 170 CoreLokts. Hope it doesn't change. I'm all excited !! I'll post pics and a range report as soon as she's back.
Happy Hump Day !!
Thanks, Tom

Well the work is 90% done. The 'smith had me take it to the range and shoot/function check it. The first 3 shots @ 50 yards with Rem 170's printed a 1-1/8" triangle.....good start!
Camera took a Schnauzer, however I tried Federal and Winchester 170's....great news they printed right on top of the Remingtons!!! Oh happy Day !! with nice triangles as well! I had to come up 6 clicks of elevation and 2 clicks left windage. All set !! Rang steel @ 200 yards and now she's going back to have the crown blued. I really like the handiness of it now, and love the recessed crown.

I had my 94 Win cut to 16 1/2 and the tube will hold 6. If I remember right I cut the mag spring so that it was as much longer than the trapper tube than it was the carbine before putting in the plug. No problems feeding rounds through the action.

Thanks Oly,
He does good work. He doesn't have a business per se. He is a trained gunsmith that works out of his home. He mostly works on his own and his family's. I'll pass it along that your interested.
Thanks, Tom
