How does the "Dog" get such cool consignments

Post by jdad »

Bob Munden's letter of authentication is a great read.

http://www.gunauction.com/buy/11087000/ ... bob-munden!
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

How does one really place a value on something like that?

What would it be worth if it was just a real nice SAA not owned by someone famous? (I always thought Sammy was the fastest in Hollywood)

There are a couple episodes of The Rifleman tv series in which Sammy gets to show his stuff. He was phenomenal with the fancy gun handling. Lots of twirls and spins, and really, REALLY fast on his draw. First time I saw him handling an old Colt's revolver I was knocked right over. - DixieBoy

A voice from the past. I miss entertainers like him.

I knew Sammy Davis Jr. was short, but that 7.5" barreled SA looks huge in is hand.

In his 4 page letter, Munden states the guns serial number to be 20208... Everything else shows 20202.
It was a very interesting read and some really nice pics. Sammy was a pretty good western actor.
Are there any actors left that can make a decent western anymore?
Sure miss John, Roy, Gene and all the rest that have ridden their last trail rides here and now ride the ranges on the other side.

OT, but when Sammy kissed Archie Bunker full on the lips, I nearly collapsed from laughter.

Isn't there a story about Sammy, reputed to be the fastest draw in Hollywood, going against Steve McQueen and his mare's leg (Josh Randal's gun) -- and losing?

For those that may not know it, Early & Modern Firearms is known today as EMF. The owner Boyd Davis, CEO/President of EMF is also known as General U.S. Grant, SASS #2. He is a Founding Father and the President of SASS. He was also connected to the original Great Western SAA's of that era. That's why you see their current SAA's listed as Great Westren II's.
