Lever Gun Yearbook Wanted

Post by rbertalotto »

A comment was made on a thread about a "Lever Gun Yearbook" possibly printed by Rifle Magazine around year 2000.

Anyone have a copy they want to sell or rent to me?

Interested in an article about case length of the 38-40.

Thanks!

It was called The Legacy Of Leverguns. I looked through it and only found one reference to case length for the 38-40 in an article by Mike Venturino entitled Loading The Black Powder WCF Lever Action Cartridges. He references a case length of 1.315" which is not quite in accordance with SAAMI specifications which are 1.305 -.020.
http://www.saami.org/PubResources/CC_Dr ... hester.pdf

Mike also shows the same case length for the 44-40 (1.315). SAAMI shows 1.305-.020.

The nominal case length, listed in the 2009 issue's chart (FWIW, there were at least 2 different issues, and maybe a 3rd, of Legacy of Leverguns. ) is 1.305".

I have a copy of both, Roy - and would be glad to loan them to you - but they're in pretty rough shape from a water leak I had a couple of years ago.
PM me, and I'm sure we can meet somewhere mutually agreeable, between Dartmouth & Providence.

I'm glad you didn't want to post our pictures. I have been known to make cameras recoil violently, and I am not sure where to put the recoil pad on them.
