Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag at Cabelas

Post by DBCinID »

In case anyone was interested, I stopped by the Boise Cabelas gun library last night and they had a 1894 in 44 magnum complete with a Leupold 3x9 muzzleloader scope for $649. It was a JM proof, newer model with crossbolt safety. Looked to be in good condition. I cycled it a couple times and it felt smooth. I don't need a 44, so I thought I would let you all know about it. Seems like a pretty fair deal if you were inclined to have a scope on your lever gun. I just picked up my 1894 in .357 and my next Marlin is looking to be a 45-70 guide gun.

I like mine but I am surprised how much it kicks compared to the same load in a redhawk. I am thinking about a factory recoil pad just to make it a little more comfortable. Now before yall start the "sissy" stuff I shoot 45-70's &444's on a regular basis but i was thinking this rifle would have less kick than it does. Since we r on the subject anybody got a factory marlin pad they would sell?
