Lyman Ideal 38-55, Mini Sharps????

Post by rbertalotto »

I have an opportunity to buy a Lyman Ideal in 38-55 for $1050.

I like this neat "mini" Sharps rifle.

Anyone have an range time with one?

I think I've seen posts on here about them, maybe the model in .22 Hornet.

They sound like really cool guns.

That would be one sweet rifle for whitetail...!!!!
At 6 lbs., moderate .38/55 loads won't be punishing, but if you push them up close to max., you're gonna know it..!!
If you buy it, and want to try some cast loads, I believe I have some Lyman 375248 bullets around here I can send you for testing. Let me know.

That would be a sweet little walking rifle. I have a full sized Sharps and I love it but at around 12 pounds it isn't much fun to hunt with.

Thanks folks!

I'm thinking a good hunting rifle. I hunted with my full size Sharps last fall........Like you said, not fun walking around with that thing!

You will love it. I have shot them in 38-55, 45 colt, 22 mag and 22lr. I owned two of those. Very fun rifles and the caliber you are thinking of will make a great hunting rifle.

They are sharp lookers and in 38-55 I'm betting it would be a hoot to shoot. If I had the scratch, I'd spring for it.
