Now this is the first right thing Ruger has done in awhile. Now, a takedown version of the second version of the .44 mag semiauto rifle would be interesting.

A walnut version with a 16" barrel would be nice.

Ever notice how we can always think of ways to make things better. You'd think Ruger would ask folks like us.

This is really cool. Ruger has come out with a lot of good guns lately. Not all appeal to my tastes, but it is nice to see them constantly introducing new things.

They still haven't put QD sling swivel studs on them. It can be a real pain with Ruger's synthetic (i.e. plastic) stocks.

Now I've owned and shot several 10/22's over the years, and I don't think ANY of them shot groups like this at 50 yards... The one I put a Green Mountain bull-barrel on might, but none of the 'factory' ones.

I just wonder if they are really that accurate now... (and if so, I want one...!)

MAYBE that new means of attaching the barrel makes a difference vs. the underlug-dovetail method on the originals; I know when 'accurizing' them, you need to do some things to improve the dovetail attachment. The take-down one looks pretty solidly locked-in.

Ruger has finally made me want a 10/22.

I'd still prefer it in a 96/22 platform, but. I don't think I'll quibble.

My 10/22 Deluxe's easily that accurate, Doc - but I DID clean up the trigger engagement surfaces ASAP I bought it in the late 70's.

I've read elsewhere that that same cleanup is problematic, due to recent changes to the trigger group - so folks just might want to shop around for a older 10/22, like a walnut-stocked carbine or early Deluxe with hard rubber (plastic) BP.

Wish they were legal in Pa for hunting. I like it! Also liked his holster. Anyone know what it was with the ruger in it?

Gotta love Ruger. While I say that I don't think I'd ever buy one. If I was that interested in a compact 10/22 I'd just get a Butler Creek folder and call it good. Not as short but easier to get into action and can be fired from the closed position if I really really wanted or needed to.

Do like the pack though although I'd prefer it without a gun related logo on the outside.

Nice model there and I can imagine that system might also increase the accuracy.

I picked mine up yesterday. Shot it today. Very kewl. Very pleased. Like hobie said, no qd sling swivels. Will have to engineer something. It is a very kewl take down system.

Accurate little gun, and good shootin'...

One question though - did you have to hold the gun upside down to get that group...

Mine has been 100% reliable and groups well. No optics yet, so I can't comment on group size without invoking my shooting ability, but it outshoots my other 10-22. It is a very cool and well designed piece of kit.

The local shop had (I'm sure it sold quickly) one a couple of weeks ago. I liked the way it handled but didn't have the scratch for it.

Like what? I've seen a lot of guns and accessories of other companies design and/or manufacture with Rugers name on it, but nothing new or impressive.

OTOH the take down 10/22 is interesting.

You gotz your wish, thanks to Thompson Machine...
It's the same suppressor I have on my Ruger 96/22, and it's very, very quiet. In the video above, all you're really hearing is the clicking noise of the bolt slapping shut (which is why I put mine on the levergun version instead - it's even quieter... 8) )

Here's Thompson's web-page for their rimfire suppressors...

yeah, and that's a lot of "Shoot 'n See" going to waste. If you have a gun like that, buy the little ones.

At the indoor range I've gone back to the 1/2" Avery stick-on dots you can get at Staples. Nice when you get a group that stays inside one!
