my irish ancestor was born in Limerick, on jan 16, 1761. his parents brought him to frontier of virginia at age 3. at age 19, in 1780, he joined the Continental army [ Southern Detachment of the Maryland Line, under Gen.Nathaniel Greene ] and was a bluecoat for the duration ....doing what Irish do best: fighting the british. i will drink some Guiness to his memory tonight and tomorrow !
