Good Day
Doing some research into re-loading the .450 Marlin in the BLR before I lay down the cash.
Have re-loaded for about 40 years but with bottleneck calibers from .270 to .375 H&H. First time with straight wall stuff.
Looking for anything that is unique to the BLR as most data seems related to the 1895 Marlin. Such things as bullet type (cast or jacketed) or style (spitzer, FN, RN, etc.) weights, COL, seating depths as applicable to certain bullets.
I think that about covers it.
I'm sure you get the idea.
If its any help, I intend to hunt larger non-dangerous game (moose, elk, bison) at ranges not exceeding 200M and often less.
If you have any specific loads that you would like to share that would be good as that will give me a starting point.
Thanks all.

Re: BLR .450 Marlin reloading information
Well, I don't have a BLR and so can't speak from any personal experience. But I would suggest initially sticking with factory OCL and bullet shape. That should keep you in good shape. But since the BLR feeds from a box mag, I would think that you could load spitzer bullets so long as the OCL stays within the specs.

Re: BLR .450 Marlin reloading information
Haven't loaded .450 Marlin but I've loaded many other straight cases including .45-70, .454 Casull, .44 Rem Mag, .458 Win Mag & can't see it being anything anywhere near quantum mechanics theory in difficulty. Just follow safe practices & the appropriate reloading manuals.longshotz wrote:Good Day

Some of the data from online sources including forums I thought to be a bit shall we say "risque" in other calibers..........STICK TO THE PUBLISHED MANUALS !
..........unless you think walking with a white cane is a desirable fashion statement.

The hardest thing I found to get used to with my 2 BLRs (.308 Win, .300 Win Mag) is their crappy triggers. My 2 BLRs are both going for Neil Jones trigger tune-ups this coming summer.
