Great gun writers and the internet

Some of you might like to 'google search' and go to Wikipedia encyclopedia and read about the great gun writers.

I'm sure many of you have done this.

Some of the greats, (and I know there are others I don't know or don't recall.)

Jack O'Connor
Elmer Keith
Warren Page
George Nonte
Craig Boddington (current)
Townsend Whelan
Bill Jordan
Skeeter Skelton
Charles Askins
Harvey Donaldson
Jeff Cooper

And others. Whelan and Donaldson go back quite a ways. For me, and I expect most in this group, O'Connor and Keith were the standouts.

Of course additions to this list are very welcome. Same for comments about these men.

I returned to also mention great names in the gun business that make for good reading on the internet. John Browning, Roy Weatherby, Griffin & Howe, Bill Ruger, and of course the great manufacturers here and in other countries.

I personally don't think anyone measures-up to John Browning. He's in a class by himself.

Back to add: I've just been reading about Charles Askins Jr. Forgot the junior before. Very interesting. Some are very negative on him while others are on his side. I'm now at about "page 26" and along comes Charlie's grand daughter with her--forthright--comments to this group.

It's for sure, Askins experienced a lot in one life time and best not to be in a gunfight with him.

A clue to his character would be his title to his autobiography: "Unrepentant Sinner." You can interpret this literally or as a man saying, 'This is my life and I approve of it and your opinion doesn't matter at all.'
