Round balls in shotguns

Post by Stan in SC »

Dixie Slug Co. makes an interesting load called a "tri-ball".It is three round .60 balls in one 12 gauge shell.I have some but have not tried them yet.

As the world turns....I believe the original "Brown Bess" is where the 20 gauge evolved from, comes full circle.

Stan,
They like alot of choking, use a full or superfull turkey choke. You should get all 3 balls in about 4-6" at 40-50 yards. No kidding. A friend of mine uses them for deer and they are absolutely devastating.

Good luck and have fun, Tom

I have made tri ball loads up in the past. .54 I think packed in tea leaf from tea bags!

They worked well on Herco IIRC and grouped well beyond 50yds.

Those Tri-Ball loads are unreal.
Shot a extremely large hog with that load (only the 3" load not the 3.5")and it absolutely devastated the whole front of the hog.
Dropped instantly at 45yds.
For someone that wants to carry a single shot for whatever and not care about reloading it for a second shot  (that's the load)
Totally insane!
