Osborne, 12 bore side by side

here is the latest addition to the fold. I will let the pictures speak for themselves:
28" nitro proofed steel barrels choked Improved Cylinder x Full with 2 1/2" chambers, perfect bores, ejectors and nearly all the original blueing. Nicely engraved petite receiver engraved with English rose and scroll. Straight grip English walnut stock with drop points and 14 7/8" LOP to a recoil pad. Drop is 1 1/2" and 2". Wood and checkering are excellent. All numbers match and the guns locks up tight and on face with lever well right of center. Feels like a 20. Osborne closed london shop in 1920.

Nice one Mike! I had a Charles Osborne 12b BLE and a Double Rifle in 450/400 3". Good choice!

I guess we not only share a liking for Filson, but fine English doubles as well. I was looking at your Osborne and noticed how close it looks to a Webley I have that was made around the same time. Mine has 2 1/2 inch chambers, but still close in quality of workmanship...

Shrapnel. The coat arrived, thanks for that. It is a great fit and was worn this am. This Osborne very closely resembles my p. Webley 10 bore. In fact I would be hard put telling the difference of the engravers work. I am making a change to the post above. This gone was sold to me as a 2 3/4 " chamber gun but it is noy proofed as such. I think its a 2.5"chamber as marhed. That is what jabot out of it today. I used holland and holland paper #5's on the bushy tails and crows today in the game lands stroll. Blessings

Nothing wrong with 2 1/2" bores. I shoot a lot of 2 1/2"s out of my Ruger Gold label.
My Parker is 2 1/2" as well, shoot a ton through it, in fact I almost exclusively load 2.5" in 16ga anymore, same load, just shorter hull and roll crimped, shoot them through the o/u and sweet 16's.
In fact, hope to shoot some tomorrow at some pheasants. Need some snow before season ends!

I have a nice old 12 Greener mid grade boxlock (this one has a tang safety rather then the normal Greener side safety) that I bought when I was 14 . This one came from the factory IC and F with 2 1/2" chambers . And at that time I had the chambers lengthened and the full choke massged out to a slight modified !

Certainly not what a collector wants to hear , but that was my main bird gun for about 20 years !

Good thing you weren't collecting it then but using it. I bet whomever was involved in crafting that Greener intended it to be someone's main bird gun for quite some time.

I also have a midland hammer 12 bore with 2.5" chambers that 86er reworked and sold to me. It is circa 1880's. WAS my favorite SxS until the last two additions, but still sees lots of shooting

I don't have such plans, I am digging myself out of a hole I got myself in this past week. I am waiting on a real rare and unique piece of Buffalo Hunting history that I hope to get in the next few days.

I did have a nice 10 bore Westley Richards, that I wish I had kept, but I sold it to pay for a Winchester that I bought. I do have another nice hammer gun, an engraved Colt 1878, they aren't too common either...
