Old guns are investments and I continue to invest in them. I love the look of a nice hammer gun and this one is a George Hume, Birmingham gun from one of the great shotgun makers of England. It is a 12 bore, 2 1/2 inch chambers, damascus barrels and nicely engraved. English grips are not common, but look elegant on these guns. I have shot this a lot at Cowboy Action shoots...
I've got a 16ga that looks similar. I only shoot it with .410 chamber mates.

Actually, I do have some cruddy guns. This is the grouse killingest shotgun you will ever see. I take it on a 4 wheeler, don't clean it and when it falls off, I don't worry about it. It is a commie gun, but it is a utilitarian work of art...
I love those old English side hammer doubles. I have a JP Clabrough & Bros 12 bore 2 & 1/2, also made in Birmingham sometime in the 1880's. It is tight with a smooth shiny bore and even a bit of case color on the receiver. Here's a photo of my old side by side ...
