How did I do?

Post by KevH »

Went to a gunshow today and saw a pre-64 94 sitting in a rack. It looked to be clean and used, but not abused and did not appear to be modified in any way. The gun is the typical 20" round barrel variety and is marked as "Model 94" and "30 WCF." The serial number is 12798**, which I believe puts it as being made in 1941.

I'm in CA where gun prices are silly, but I paid $500 for it. It came in on a trade to the dealer the day before at the show and according to the gentleman he got it from it had sat in a closet for the past thirty years.

This is my first levergun. How did I do on price? Are there any springs that need swapping or anything I should pay attention to before I take it out and shoot it?

I have to wait the typical California ten days and then I'll post some pictures up here.

Sounds like you did real good. I would say give it a good cleaning and shoot it.

You did pretty good. Clean it. Oil it. LEAVE THE SPRINGS ALONE. Go shoot it.
