Where's the respect?

Post by perry owens »

Every couple of months someone opens a manhole, cuts through the telephone cable, chains the end to the towhitch of a stolen 4 x 4 and hauls out a few hundred yards of valuable copper cable. The thief makes his drug money and our district is without phone and internet for a few days. The high price of metals means that such occurancies are common here, but just recently things have reached a new low. Some scumbag stole the bronze plaques off our local war memorial!!!

For the sake of £50 worth of scrap these people have caused immense distress to the relatives of those whose names were honoured there and a £20000 replacement bill for local residents ( in stone this time, not bronze). I hate to think what might happen to the perpetrators if the locals catch them before the police do.

Miscreants are causing the same trouble here in The States. It's frustrating!

If I found the scrap yard that BOUGHT it...

I recently sold 58lbs of aluminum cans. Had to give my name, address, etc.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Just shoot'm, bloody varmints.

A farmer I know had some kit stolen, he put a sign up in a certain place stating how his JCB was kept warm and ready to go, as in it will dig your grave if I shoot you dead!

The robbing stopped!

I started to say something witty .... then realized it wasn't. Things like this make me sick. There are two sides to this crime. The thief who steels it, and the scrap dealer who buys it. Both are guilty and should share the same set of shackles as they bust rocks in the granite quarry in broad daylight.

It's one thing to steal something of inanimate value, but it's a whole different level to steal something dedicated to those that have sacrificed all. Even for those that steal.

Personally I would hope that the locals do catch them and they have to use what's left of their appendages to work at hard labor.

Oh and it would be nice if they took away their ability to reproduce as well.

There are sometimes very good reasons for hangings and public floggings.

Very shameful. Its what Meth does to the kids these days. They will cut their own mother's throat for a 10.00 scrap piece.
