Sirs, I respectfully ask to join your fire, after lurking here for several years, I have decided that this is the best gun forum, and i have learned a lot from reading here. I have 2 Marlin levers in 45 Colt, 3 Ruger Vaqueros, a second gen Colt SAA, (all 45s) and several cap and ball revolvers, My primary interest are the War Between The States, and Old West outlaws, with emphasis on the James-Younger Gang, and Confederate Guerilla fighters and Confederate Cavalry, I am a member of the Sons Of Confederate Veterans, And the Military Order Of The Stars And Bars,as well as the William Clarke Quantrill Society.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you've got some good guns there. The War of Northern Aggression is a fascinating thing to study, and I suppose it's much like anything else, difficult to learn every single detail about every single event. This forum is a great place. Hope you enjoy your stay!

A hardy welcome to the forum. As you said, you've been lurking for a couple of years so you know what this place is about and you still decided to join. I jest, but in my and many members minds, it's the best place on the net.

I think it is against Forum Rules to own two leverguns of the same make and caliber, so one of the .45 Colt Marlins will have to go.Last Gunfighter wrote:I have 2 Marlin levers in 45 Colt, 3 Ruger Vaqueros, a second gen Colt SAA, (all 45s) and several cap and ball revolvers.
Fortunately, several members here would be happy to take it off your hands so you don't get in trouble...

Out of all the "gun" sites that are out there, this is the one with a fairly diverse group that gets along. A great place to be. Welcome!

Welcome.
Your interests include a bunch of mine also. Most of my family fought with the 26th Alabama Infantry or the 38th Alabama.
Where is it in the south that you live (state wise)?

Re: First Post
Now, now, Doc; we BOTH know that's stretchin' it a mite! But... what you're seein' as a "wrong" is actually a lack of leverguns appropriate to the period of interest. Bein' a student of the "War of Northern Aggression" one SHOULD own a Henry repeating arm, (the correct one not the imposter). And I'm sure that there are several other leverguns prevalent in the other periods of interest, BESIDES the 1894 Marlin, a relative "johnny-come-lately", to the outlaw/train-robbin' guerilla period following that war.AJMD429 wrote:I think it is against Forum Rules to own two leverguns of the same make and caliber, so one of the .45 Colt Marlins will have to go.Last Gunfighter wrote:I have 2 Marlin levers in 45 Colt, 3 Ruger Vaqueros, a second gen Colt SAA, (all 45s) and several cap and ball revolvers.

Re: First Post
If thats the case, i'm in BIG trouble --- i have a bad habit of just looking at 45 Colt Trappers on Gunbroker and ignoring everything else. I only have 2 of them so far, but i have 3 almost identical Ranger 30-30 carbinesAJMD429 wrote:I think it is against Forum Rules to own two leverguns of the same make and caliber, so one of the .45 Colt Marlins will have to go.Last Gunfighter wrote:I have 2 Marlin levers in 45 Colt, 3 Ruger Vaqueros, a second gen Colt SAA, (all 45s) and several cap and ball revolvers.

Welcome to the board!
Looking forward to some more posts.
And I have a question: what's the SCV entail? I mean are there shoots and such? Newsletter? What?
I have an ancestor that was a drummer boy in the Tennessee Regiment - the 19th Tennessee Infantry I guess... would be my Great Great Grandpa I think - on my Mother's side.
ETA - found the web site: http://www.scv.org/ I am proud of the South!
I'm going to check out the "research" area...
