1873 - Lever hard to hold closed

Post by bajabill »

On my Navy reproduction 1873, I think there is a fix for this, the spring that holds the lever slightly open is really strong, so it is hard to hold the lever closed to allow the trigger to be pulled. Is this a relatively simple fix or not, any directions with nice pictures (the ones that Arlo Guthrie would be proud of)

If ya want a really sweet as honey action, go completely spendthrift looney and buy all four springs the smith shop offers, the "whisper springs" for the front end, and the reduced power mainspring. ALMOST an action job in a little bag.... But the trigger safety spring is the one bugging ya right now, and Hap's is the best out there.
