Y2K's Boy Scout troop had their semi-annual "Court of Honor" this past Monday. I was too involved in the ceremony to snap pictures, but got copies of some general ones. Y2K earned the rank of "Star" and was recognized at this ceremony. The other two earning "Star" rank are 15 and 17 years old; Y2K is 13.
There's a boy who can be proud of his accomplishment.
I'm willing to bet that no small amount of credit is owed to support from his Dad and the rest of the family.
My brother and I were awarded our Eagles a month after my 15th birthday, and my Mom deserved them both, let me tell you.
After a National Court of Honors ceremony we ate dinner at the finest restaurant in town and had the Governor of Colorado (The Honorable John D. Vanderhoof) shake our hands later that night.
Quite a day.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

FW - He'll earn it, but I am pushing him to do so before he discovers "the fumes"; perfume and gas fumes!
I'm proud to say I'll be going to a Court of Honor September 4th for two of our friend's boys. Both sons, Michael and Billy, are being awarded their Eagle Scout. They parents are justly proud of them and their accomplishments. They live 2 doors form us and their dad is a shooting buddy who liked my 24" 357mag Rossi so much the first time he shot it that he went out a bought one for himself. Our son the physicist, use to sit for the boys when they were small and he was in high school. Time flies; now they are both starting college and he's almost done with his PhD.

YK, I knew you were in SC, but evidently closer than I thought to me. I see Fort Mill on the flag, and I am a Chester boy. Maybe we'll run in to each other at some point.
My baby boy will be 30 this year. Amazing how they grow up and change, while we stay the same. Ain't it?
Congrats from another eagle scout! I earned my eagle at 17 years old, and while I firmly believe in not rushing a scout through to get eagle before they can experience and enjoy scouting, You are definitely right about gas and perfume fumes! I saw several of my friends drop out of scouts as their interests shifted to more conventional teenage pursuits. Good luck! He'll be proud of his accomplishment for his entire life! And so will you!
