On the Range with .375w

Post by Rhys.94.375 »

Over the las tfew days ive been playin with the front an rear sights.
It was terrible yesterday flyin them everywhere, last night i cleaned the barrel an went out today for a few shots.

As i've seen quite a bit the LA triggers are quite heavy, i noticed myself really puttin the pressure on the trigger until it broke, much heavier than even standard Remington 700 triggers.

I was at a range of 80 yards, was hoping to get it to group enough to see where it is shooting, after the first shot i thought, maybe just a cleaned barrel, 2nd shot went left, an 3rd shot right next to the 2nd, an finally the 4th was just lower an to the right of the first.

By going off which shots felt best as i shot, id have said the 1st an last, im left handed an sometimes catch myself out hookin left.

Here is the rifle.

Here is the target, excuse the photoshopped lines an colours, the red "circle" is approx 6inches round, an the light blue is where i have mt front bead covering the target.

My Question, would you be confortable/confident takin this out for deer around 100yards?
Note_ the rear sight is as low as it goes, i took the ramp out for these shots as yesterday it was shooting higher------- higher front sight needed??
Cheers

Forget the rifle, what's with the giant can of beer???? :P  The rebounding hammer/trigger can be a tough nut to crack, but with a little practice you can live with it, and even shoot good groups with it. I'm not really a big game hunter but that looks pretty good to me, open sights and at 80 yards. I shot the BB 94 with the rebounding setup for years and did fairly well...could have lived with it, but glad I now have the non rebounding half cock setup on it. Keep shooting and tinkering and things should keep getting even better.

i threw the original front blade sight back onto the 94 an shot a hole right in the circle... seems to be good at the moment,

during this after noons hunt we seen 20 odd deer all within 40meters, it was windy an that seemed to be the downfall.
swirling in circles sometimes we could get in without detection, an otherwise it was spot an bolt!

next hunt is friday, possibly a story if all goes well an i can take a deer.

Looks like you have about a 4 inch group there. I'd be ok with that if I could get them to hit centered in the point of aim.

Good luck with the hunt. :)
