Per Kirk D's Post - My Winter Shooting on Sunday

Post by meanc »

I guess I'll be first

I went on Sunday, and did some fishing afterwards too. This Florida weather is pretty nice.

But yes, cabin fever was getting to me, too.

I finally had a chance to put my newly acquired Marlin Cowboy Limited to the test.

I found out, it's 24" and 13 rounds of "nothing but accurate"
w/ my load of 20gr of 2400 behind a 250gr Hornady XTP.

Here's my first 100yd target. It printed the first three shots low right in a nice little group.
Then I adjusted for elevation with two shots and finally the windage.

When all was said and done, it put 10 shots in one ragged hole :D

Now, This is the target from my Win94 Legacy. Not as exciting, but I had already sighted it in a month ago.

So, after a thorough cleaning and a cold barrel, it still shoots to point of aim :D

Could have shot a few more, but them there bullets are expensive.

That is downright good! In fact, 'good' is an understatement. Your 38-55 is outstanding. Ain't nothin' wrong with your 30-30 either. You must have good eyesight. Thanks for the post and the photos. Do you have an idea of what your velocity is? With 20 grains of 2400, I'm guessing that it must be close to 1,500 fps.

Kirk,

Thanks alot, but both of those are in 45Colt.

Last month I chrono'd these out of the Win94 Legacy and they're right around 1665fps.

Those are serious 45 Colt rifles! With ballistics and shooting like that, you're ready for pretty much any North American game.
