WOW!! The Colt SAA 7 1/2 that killed Billy the Kid plus Pat Garrett's Sheriff badge I don't think have reached that amount of money yet. It's fun to have lots of money, I'll never know.
P.S. I would rather have the Colt and badge myself. I have seen them both sell at auction years back and they have been auction off several times since then.
The article says there originaly was 4 photos and one burned. They dont know where the other two are. I wouldnt mind haveing the hat or rifle. Thats 2 million plus $200,000 finders fee. $2,200,000s total! Now let`s see. To end up with $2,200,000s after taxs to to buy the photo, you had to make almost $3,800,000s! Either you want that tin type bad and/or you have so much money that you cant comprehend the meaning of it! Billy probley didnt earn $2,000s in his life. I bet he would have got a kick out of knowing his "pose" brought that! Step aside cindy crawford, you dont need to be pretty!
(Wonder what that colt new frontier I had that belonged to audie murphy that my ex liberated from me would be worth now?)
I think these are the kind of photos that are normally reversed. So I messed around with this one and flipped it. Looks better, but it's still in crappy condition.

I think the guy who just bought this picture is the same guy who owns Pat's gun that killed Billy also.
After years and years of looking this picture blown up in my many books....I was shocked to see how small the actual picture is. I know many tin types were small....but never realized this one was so small. Bob Boze Bell had a good article about this picture last month. In True West.
Im just glad the picture did not go to the Saudi Oil guys or the Japs that were bidding on the picture. Thank you sir for outbidding them and keeping it in America.

Yes, they are reversed. It only took the people 100 years to realize the loading gate on the rifle was on the wrong side and for someone to say...."HEY....those tin types were reversed, Duh".
Only after tons of books and even a movie called the Left Handed Gun.
Oh well, better late than never.
Its a Winchester 1873 carbine with the 20" barrel.

I'm going to guess that it's either been disproved or there is no way to properly document it. But it sure gets used a lot.

I have been reading about Billy for a long time and have never.....ever seen this pic. What rock was my head under? It sure does look a lot like the authenticated Billy the Kid picture.
