I'll go along with some of that....If I got a bunch of dirt or sand in the action of my levers, I'd open it up and douse with water...that won't hurt a thing....Bolts won't go into battery with too much stuff on the bolt face, either.

I would think that it doesn't matter all that much if you manage to make the first shot count, which is what I would be striving for in a bear/me confrontation.

I have never been a guide, never hunted bear, never been hunted BY a bear (that I know of), so I guess my opinion on that doesn't count for much, but some guys are literally just asking for a fight and it hurts them more to ignore them than to take the bait and engage. OK, laughing at them probably works too.

Anybody that brings up ridiculous "tests" like that loses all credibility with me. In my former life, I carried a weapon all over the world in very harsh conditions at times. I knew my life depended on it working so I took care of it "like my life depended on it". I didn't abuse my fierarm then and don't do it now for a hunt.

Well now - wasn't that fun. No application to where I am though or intend to be. I am headed to Burger King for a double cheeseburger. :D Plenty of experience at that.

No thought as to why Winchester sold seven times as many levers than bolts I suppose . . .

Must be wonderful to know everything.

When I lived in Alaska most of the locals carried Lever Guns-usually 1886's.A fair number carried Win. 1894's if they did not expect trouble from claws.

Always suprises me how many viliages are missing their idiots!

Doesn't matter what your packin' you got to take some care to keep it clean.
Bolt, Lever, Auto or pump. Get enough stuff in there ain't none of 'em gonna work.

By the way. Someone might want to inform these individuals that "Giude Gun"
really referrs to; short, light and powerful. Not infallable.
