OT--This Is Killin' Me!!

Post by Sixgun »

When we all run out of things to talk about, we go to the weather. In this case, its so hot here, I'm too miserable to do anything. I'm stuck in the house (hate that!!) during daylight hours. Yea, big deal, the AC has things at 70 but when I see light out the window, Sixgun wants to go outside and play/work......anything but sit in the house. Hows it out your way?----------------Sixgun

According to my computer, it's only 91º at my house... but then, I'm 150 miles NE of there! But, it's a nice, cool 90º here in Texarkana, TX!!!

I'd much rather be outside than in this silly customer's lounge watchin' reruns on A&E!!!!

Weathers moderately hot here, not really humid today but warm. Things could be done if I felt up to it.

be careful, with the humidity you have, that must be tough - it's like the Battle of Monmouth, where heat stroke took more troops than musket fire.

I hear ya Jack!
Today isn't too bad but yesterday SUCKED! I had two large house fires to scope and felt like a wet noodle
when I got home. Then Blondie wanted to go out for dinner. What the heck? Those Long Island ice teas sure went down easy!

Felt really bad for those poor home owners. Both lost pets but at least no one was hut.

Check those smoke detectors guys!!!

Yep, 96° this afternoon and now I'm waiting on a thunderstorm. Might just be wishful thinking. Do have lots of cloud cover though. I did some outside work but then took a long siesta after lunch in the AC part of the house. So hot the dog was asking to go into the AC!

It actually been pretty nice down here in Florida.
It has been really nice this spring, nice and cool in the
mornings and evenings....But we have been in a pretty serious drought..
We will be in the news this summer for forest fires....
Happens every 10 years or there abouts.....
Some of the lakes are very low....some 12' low
This one is not too bad..Lake Ashby.. in central Florida, is about 5' to 6' low

It's the usual roller coaster here. 95+ wensday storms yesterday.today in the 70's. Tuesday morning we had a very unusual thunder storm come from the north off of Erie with 70 mph wind and loads of rain and hail. big trees down everywhere. one homeowner not far from here had a giant Maple tree fall and just miss his house. passed by it yesterday and they had the tree cleared away. the car in the driveway was nearly cut in two.I feel pretty lucky.

Actually been pretty nice in Phoenix, unusually cool late spring. 90s this past week (one 100 in there) and very dry. It's creeping up though and we're getting our come'uppance this next week - with 103-105 - but that just means back to normal :) June's not bad though. Typically dry days and evenings still fairly pleasant. It's July 'n August that'll get you,the heat sticks around 24-7. They keep backing up the "monsoon season" start up date - now into June. Hope they're wrong. 'Cause then it's hot *and* sticky and we start to resemble south-central Texas, and we don't want that :)

Sure could use the moisture up in the mountains though with the big fire...along with you fine folks' prayers sent that way. Report at last night's fire-incident commander's briefing showed very first signs of progress--helped by less winds and a big DC-10 tanker starting yesterday. Very sad though, the loss of properties, livelihoods, wildlife and timber. Very nicest, "most Colorado-like" part of state too. Top hunting and fishing mecca for the state.

Hey, Jack,

79 with 16% humidity today here in the Arkansas River Valley. But, it's quite hazy as we're getting a lot of smoke from the fire near Springerville, Arizona.

But atleast the temp "is supposed" to decrease !

I think between the thunderstorms and the heat I'll steer clear of the CBA match I was gonna attend in Fairfax sunday :(

Yes, losing pet can be a real psychological issue but ever try to console a mother that lost a child in a fire?
It's the worst God awful thing in the World that I would't wish on anyone!
We've had several fatalities this year and I don't want any more! That's why I say" Check those smoke detectors!" and have a fire ext. on every floor. May just save someone's life!

Hot here too, though I was at the beach the latter part of the week. Had an annual conference I attend, so cart up the wife and kids, freshly out of school, to kick off the summer. They play while I work (almost always the case). It was nice to get a break from the heat. The breeze coming off the ocean felt good, and the water already feels like bathwater in Myrtle Beach.

Going to be a long, hot summer the way things are shaping up...
