Crud in my 30-30 Trapper

Post by Mike-in-WV »

Had to go to the Doctors early this morning and when I got back it was pouring down rain. Went out to my work shop and tore down my Win. 94 Trapper to nothing but receiver and barrel and sights. I even stripped down the trigger mechanism. As I mentioned in another thread on here I only shot about 240 rounds through this gun and I do keep it clean...or I thought so.
I'm really good about keeping my guns clean and strip them down all the time but not this far. I'm glad I did! It was really dirty in there.Even the tube was dirty and found dried caked grease in the trigger mech. Got it all cleaned up and back together and gave it a try. WOW! I forgot just how smooth this gun can operate and it really feels good again.
Good thing to do on those Raine day's guys. Mike

I think mine are stripped once a decade if I use them a lot. More often if I toss it in the creek, or drop it in the river bottom or shoot black powder out of 'em.

They really don't need to be stripped all the way down too often.

Joe, I agree that they don't need stripped down to often but it sure don't hurt to do it either. :) Mike
