OT- Need help finding replacement sight parts for 1874 Ubert

Post by Mich Hunter »

I have been searching the internet for the last couple days trying to find a replacement part with no luch. On my barrel mounted rear sight, the detent that holds the spring in plunger in on the rear elevator grew legs and walked off. I have tried calling uberti but cannot get anyone to answer. I also looked on their site and cannot find a listing for 1874 parts. From what I read, most of these 1874 (Uberti, Taylors, etc) are mixed matched with each others parts. My question is, are most of these parts the same?? I have been looking on http://www.vtigunparts.com trying to find one that will work.

Try to contact Uberti spa ( Italy ) on info@ubertireplicas.it Att. Suzanne.
She is usually very helpful. If You are lucky she will ship the part for free. :D

I just got some hardened screws from VTI for my new Uberti '73 which I'm very pleased with. The originals were very soft and when I did my normal clean before firing a new gun even using hollow ground screwdriver bits it still turned the heads. I'd give VTI a call and talk to them about it.

Those Uberti Sharps are made by Pedersoli. It won't help the problem with getting parts for those Italian rifles, but it may be handy thing to know.

Mich hunter,

It works much better to actually pick up the phone and call VTI. Their on-line catalog is nice to poke around in, but for actual information, call 'em.
