somewhat OT - 22's today

Post by bsaride »

Friend just bought a Ruger MKlll and went to the range after picking it up.
Indoor range, 20 yd max. was having some issues and she was saying lets
take it back, I said shoot it some more. most of the issues disapeared by
the end of the range time. Also took my S&W 41 with 5 mags and wanted
to see how much dirty target ammo it would shoot before having issues.
Would shoot about 100 rounds before wanting attention.

Lever guns taken were the Marlin 39A from Mic, still a great shooter
and the Marlin 62, 30 carbine that has been giving me magazine issues
and failure to fire issues. took the 30 carbine apart and thoroughly cleaned
the bolt hoping that would solve the FTF. FTF went from about 40% to
about 15%. Firing pin is a little off center and looks like I will send it out
for a rebush. 4 out of 5 magazines were improved in feeding so only one
mag left with issues. Slow progress. but hoping to make a coyote gun I
can hunt with this winter out of it.

Those 62s interest me. It is unfortunate that I've passed by a couple. Don't know exactly why, might have been price.
Sincerely,

Hobie

.22s are always my favorite range rats. It's rare that I make a range trip without one regardless of what else I'm headed out to shoot.

I have also been shooting a bunch more 22, ...since I got my suppressor. Of the 3 guns I got threaded, I really like the lefty savage boltgun, I got with the accutrigger and a now 16 1/2 inch barrel, shoots the remington subsonics very well. The super colibre's are by far the quietest, it is louder when you pull the trigger on an empty chamber than when you fire a super colibre, but not nearly as accurately, did I mention I really like these things.
