Heads up!
Heads up ! Just got a call from a shop nearby, had gotten in a new 336 marlin after a long search. Customer was going to use for opening day next monday. Opened the box grabbed the buttstock and pulled it right off the gun, no tang bolt! I had a extra so he's good to go but really disapointed to hear this about a new in the box Marlin!
Re: Heads up!
1. Maybe it is a new kind of "take-down" model...
2. I'm leery of anyone who buys a gun just a few days before 'opening day', unless it is because theirs unexpectedly broke or was stolen...

Re: Heads up!
Back in my single dad/broke days, purely on a momentary whim, I used a pay check to buy my 1895 stainless Guide Gun, and took it out the next day. I took one shot that went exactly where I aimed @ 100yds. Good Idea? Maybe not.....Have I regreted it? Oh, he!! noAJMD429 wrote:1. Maybe it is a new kind of "take-down" model...![]()

Not surprised if this is one of the new guns made in New York. They let go all the experienced workers from the New Haven plant when they closed it.
