new LEVERevolution round for .45-70

Post by Greg Koziol »

I just saw on Hornady's website, they are selling a new line of LEVERevolution ammo called the "monoflex" line, they basically are the same as the original but use gilding metal instead of pure copper and they offer a 250 grain round for .45-70, the 250 grain round is probably excellent for deer hunting out to 200 yards with minimal drop

They had the GMX-FTX .458 250 gr ammo in their catalog last last winter. (listed as pending R&D) I'm waiting for the bullets to be available for reloaders.
I get a 4" point blank range of 200 yards out of the 325 gr FTX bullets. Since I don't think I can humanely make one-shot kills on deer any farther than that with open sights, I think the main benefit I may see out of the new GMX-FTX 250 is reduced recoil. I do like the way the GMX bullets expand and retain their weight. Anxious to try them.

yea, well it'll probably have better range then the 325 grain, its 75 grains lighter, it'll probably have a 200 yard point blank range if they load it to the same pressure as the 325 version. Yea i'm waiting for that one to come out also. You could reload it to 2600fps, make it a 200 yard gun.
