Winchester stock required.

Post by gamekeeper »

I have been offered a Winchester 9422M for $198.00 It's in good condition except for the stock. If I buy it I would want to restock it with a non checkered standard stock. Is there any company in the States that could send a stock to the UK without charging an arm and a leg?

I placed a bid on this one to keep the seller from pulling the auction. Might be one to watch. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0193483797

If you find one you want and they won't ship it, I will.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Thanks for the tip Tycer and the offer of help shipping. I reckon even the UK government would allow a piece of wood to enter the country.

Especially if it were to be described as GUM wood.

Gamekeeper,
If we can find a supplier I can order the stock for you and have it sent to my US address. I can then send it to you and you can pay the cash into my UK Natwest account when you receive the goods.
What a shame Precision Gun Works just burned down - they made some nice stocks.

Thanks Perry, I will have to do a one for one with the firearms dept. and sell my CZ Hornet. I was hoping to swop it for a 32-20, but they are like hens teeth over here! So I'm thinking of going back to the .22 magnum for foxes.

I bet if I get the 9422M a 32-20 will appear. Oh well it would only mean another load of paperwork between me and the firearms dept.

Game keeper, Here you go. They sure have some great stocks. Check out the 9422 stock pictures. Hope this helps, Mike

Wow, :D I would give anything (almost) for that steel carbine butt plate on that Cherry Wood stock. Thanks for the link Mike.

I will contact them about price etc. May be out of my league at the moment but worth a try!

I have emailed classicgunstocks and received replies with offers of help in getting a custom stock for a "bargin price 9422M".

I would recommend this guy for friendly efficent service, the pictures of his work speak for themselves.

If I get the Winchester I will contact "classicgunstocks" again and order a new stock as already arranged.

GK, there is the Master stocker in England that I think would copy the bad one. He adds in Gun mart. I think he has a webb too similar to the above.
There is a 32/20 in Shefield or Rotherham but I know you have owned a 9422m before and you liked it so I can not fault you :)
Good luck and I want to hear you rattling those mags off.
Sure will go with your 9422 (I'm sure you have one yes).

Gamekeeper, Glad I could help. Let me when you get your new stock and what kind of job they did. There prices look like there worth it but more than I could spend right now without my wife killing me :( :) I would like to get one that has better grain in it for my Trapper. Mike

Mike
Dan said he would make me one in walnut, cherry is hard to work with.
I prefer walnut anyway and I hope to get away without buying a new forearm.

Nath
Yes I have a 9422 and would like the magnum to make up a pair.
I have almost given up on getting a 32-20 that I can afford so, a .22 mag I know from experience will get the job done. Just not as good at 100yds as the 32-20.

Nath

The damaged stock has the grain splitting from the R/H side its like a wedge shape coming away from the main stock.

When I can get Photos I will post (hopefully) a before and after shot.
