Westernfield M-72 30/30 ???

Post by Goat »

Talked to a college buddy last night who said he had acquired a 30/30 he thought was a Marlin. The more we talked the more it didn't add up. So he goes to the safe and pulls it out to find "Westernfield M-72 Montegomery Wards USA" written on the barrel. He says it has a safety on the lefthand side of the receiver in the form of a small lever, a forearm band and barrel band. The serial number is located on the right side of the receiver below the loading gate. Is this possibly a varriation of the Mossberg 472? That is the only gun that I can think of that fits the description. What do you think???
