I'm probably in for the gun show. I haven't been to the last few.

Rimfire,

I'm newly moved to Florida and haven't been to a show here yet. I might just have to come.

Also, tell me about this levergun shoot?

Rimfire,

"october, when it's a little cooler" Oh my, you said a mouthful there. I moved her on June 4th and haven't seen a low less than 79 yet. They tell me that I'll like the winters here better than the ones in South Dakota though. :)

If it times out right for me, I'd like to come to the levergun shoot, if I may.

I won't be going this time around. I took off last Monday to be able to go see my mom on Sunday. Too many days off in such a short time makes the boss testy.

I'm going but I can't stay long so I will probably just drive myself. What time does it open Saturday ... 9am? I don't know if I'll make it that early but I won't be too far off. Wife has a long list for me for the weekend so I can do a couple of hours maybe and then will have to head back home.

If you find any old Norma R-123 powder, buy it. I've been looking for it for a while for a special application. I'll give you whatever you paid plus $20 per pound bounty.

If that's the Lakeland Gun and Pistol Club show that they have twice a year, I'll be in for that one. That show usually has stuff you don't see at the normal recurring shows.

I picked up some ammo ... 380 ACP, 38 Special, and 45 ACP. For the life of me I could not find any 5.56mm stripper clips. How can you even put on a gun show and not have stripper clips. I suppose as a consolation they had 5.56mm Beta C-Mags for $175. I recall the days between 1994 and 2004 when those things were over $500 when you could find them.

There was a decent Marlin 1892 in .22 ... a deluxe with the PG stock marked $800 but he would take $600. Rihmfire spotted that one while looking for a 9422M.

Also saw an 1873 takedown in .22 Short. The area where the takedown pin protruded had been pinged a few times where you can tell someone got frustrated with it. The buttstock was some crazy fabulous piece of nineteenth century walnut though.

Saw a very nice 9410 for $800. Seemed reasonable as it looked just about new.

Lots of primers between $35 and $42 per thousand. About all of the powders were in stock with several of the dealers.

A couple of Ruger No.3's in 45-70. Maybe I just never noticed them before but they're certainly around now.

And one Schultz and Larsen M54 in 7x61 S&H of course. Nice looking rifle. If it was a later one like a M60 or M65 with the 1-10 twist barrel I may have been forced to buy it. It was oozing quality in the metalwork and the stock was that old-school California style. Weatherby certainly liked it anyway.

Oh, I almost forgot. There was a guy walking around with an 1873 in 32 WCF. It was odd in that it had a short barrel ... what seemed like 20" or 18" with the mag tube about 1-1/2" shorter than the barrel. Now normally I would call "cut down" on a rifle like that and it would simply bring shooter money. He was asking $1700 I believe, but oddly, he had the Winchester letter for it in a plastic protector tie-wrapped to the lever and just hanging there. I didn't ask to see the letter, and I'm kind of regretting it. If it matched the gun, I think he had a really good deal there. I just couldn't believe that kind of rifle in authentic condition would be walking around a gun show in Orlando so I didn't bother. Rihmfire fondled it a bit but I don't think he looked at the letter either. The one thing that makes me hesitant about that rifle was the forend seemed big for that short of a barrel. I think Winchester would have put a slightly shortened forend on a rifle with a short barrel otherwise it looks out of proportion. This one looked a little out of proportion to me.

Yup...it was a pretty good show..
I was looking for a 9422m and found 2....each 795, both were plain jane...
but in very nice conditions....but too much for me...
Saw a few nice marlins...92s and 97s....$$$$$$
Lots of 94s...mostly 30-30 and 32WS...one or 2 44mags, 444marlin...9410s 3 or 4 of those..
there was one 86 in 38-56.....and a new one in 45-70 with some awful mat finish..
one guy had a model 92, i think it was a 44-40 with a 14" barrel....
but it was a bit rough...but very cool look'n
Lots of marlin 336S
The 1873 takedown in .22 Short. McNutjob mentioned ...was sweet
and so was that 1873 in 32 WCF. I really wanted that one....

and there were a ton...and i mean a lot of EBRs and accessories

Didnt buy anything except 380 ammo....but had a good time
Maybe I'll go back if I win the powerball tonight.....yeah right!

on the way home I went to a gun/pawn shop in deland...
This guy has a lot of levers...Id say about a 100 or so...
and he is real proud of them too...and he wont deal....
Hes got about 5000 guns in the shop too!

Hey Walter...did you make the show?

Rihmfire, yes, I made the show. Looked for you but got too busy looking for "stuff." :)
I went with a friend who was in a hurry so we barely had time to get what we went for and he had to leave. I scored some 158G RNFP cast bullets at a very good price. Much better than internet + shipping!!

I have been to that gun/pawn shop in Deland too, and he does have quite a collection, and he thinks highly of all of them! He had a very nice Ruger BH , 357, and wanted more than current new prices

Wish I could get to the Lakeland show be we may be out of town.

Walt the Lakeland shows that I have been to were very good and worth the trip..
Sorry we missed you....
you could not have missed me with that big deer on my back!
I walked the entire show twice......and did not by a gun.....
what a shame!
