OT - I stumbled upon a 1st year (1932) Winchester 62

Post by jdad »

Just like Marlinman93 said, sometimes there are rifles listed, on the auction sites, with a BIN price that is too good not to jump on. This had only been listed for about 2 hours when I saw it. In normal room light you can barely see the flaws, but with the bright sunlight at least I know it has honest wear. I've been trying to find an affordable 62, no "A", for a long time, but they were all "brown" rifles priced too high. It has a low 4 digit serial number too!

Don't you just love those Winchester pump guns? That is wonderful! I'm looking for a similar 1890 .22 WRF but I'll likely never find one I can afford. I started looking too late! Good for you!!!
Sincerely,

Hobie

Hobie,
I have 2 collections. Marlin rimfire levers and (all manufacturer's) rimfire pumps. I don't think a finer 22 pump was ever made than the Winchester 61, but my Remington 121 comes in a close 2nd.

Marlinman93 and I were at a gunshow a few months ago and I bought a nice 3rd Model 1890, 22 short, with a mint bore, for a very reasonable (less than $100 more than what a new 39A cost) price. You may want to call Merz Antiques. They have a whole bunch of 22WRF's that aren't listed on their web site from $300-$700.

My Father bought me a used 62 when I was 5 in 1957 cost 15.00. Still have it all these years later. Great little guns.
