The girl is bored and broke, I love it!

Post by pete-driver »

My thirteen year old daughter came to me wanting something to do to earn money for an up coming trip. I told her I would give her twenty bucks for her trip, and she said ok but it's not enough.
So I asked are you really willing to work? ...She said yes.
I set her up sizing pistol brass on my only press a single stage RCBS. I agreed to ten dollars for 200 casings pressed twice, once to size and one to bell.
So far 400- 44mag, 500- 38spc, 100- 357mag. Then she complained she was out and wouldn't be able to make any more money.
I asked "your willing to do more?" "Yes" Off to the basement I went...laughing all the way. I dug out about 2000- 9mm and 200- 45auto.
She does about two to three hundred a day, She is happy to be earning money. I'm happy she is going to learn how spending money feels different when you've earned it.
She would have got more than twenty bucks for her trip, but I'm proud she wanted to earn it.

Great Father! A pretty nice daughter, too.

I had to shovel out a chicken barn for extra cash. Paid off when I played football with the city kids.

Hard work, honest values.

Good job. She might even find out she likes reloading.

Sound like you have on heck of a kid there. Most of today's kids seem to want everything handed to them. Yep, you got a special one there.

Oh, and on the subject of cleaning guns. The saddest day of my life was when my youngest went off to boot camp. I had to start cleaning my own guns again. Them boys have got to get busy making grandkids.

I do the same thing with my son he is 11 but I get off a little bit cheaper, I showed him what I wanted done the asked him how much he would do it for and he asked .01 cents per case per step. I let him size, bell and prime the cases, he has earned over $30 so far but wants to up his price for the next batch.

PS, can hardly wait to hear the story when she tells some blissninny liberal school teacher she earned the money by reloading handgun ammunition!!
