Is it possible to get a new .410 barrel and bolt installed on a 1895 action to make a 410 Marlin lever?
I called Marlin today, they said they do not do that kind of caliber work on 1895's
Any thoughts?
I would love to have a .410 lever for dove in Texas!
45-70 to .410?

The 1895 is a rifle, hence, it has rifling which will swirl the shot as it leaves the muzzle creating less than poor accuracy. Plus, the wad will not seat properly and will vent gases along the lands and grooves of the rifling significantly degrading velocity of the shot. A .410 shell can be fired from an 1895 .45-70 but isn't recommended. Just because something can be done doesn't mean that it's a good idea. Both the Winchester (9410) and Marlin lever action .410's had smooth bores for the aforementioned reasons. I don't believe that either had screw-in chokes which might be a problem if hunting birds.
