Marlin 44 Magnum Cowboy with a new 26 1/2'' octagon barrel
I have just taken possession of my rebarrelled Marlin Cowboy 44 Magnum with a 26 1/2'' Green Mountain octagon barrel blank with a 1 in 26 twist and a grove diameter of .430,it will take 14 rounds but I will only load her with 10. .I asked the Gun Smith to leave the rear sight dovetail uncut ,I reckon it looks real sexy without the rear barrel sight!(which I never use)
The original Marlin 24'' barrel was made to the top tolerance of .4335 and I couldn't get it to shoot a decent group at all.I'm about to head to the range and break her in and see what she can do.
Regards Dallas in OZ.

Thanks for all your comments.
Pete44ru I extended the magazine tube by using an old Winchester model 94 30-30 Mag tube.My best mate is a Refrigeration Fitter(technician) and we heated up the end of the Winchester tube and expanded the end with a pipe expander whilst it was cheery red and kept the fit nice and tight and just hammered them into on another then trimmed the extended magazine with a tube cutter and finished to final size in the lathe.Filed a flat on the expanded section so as to fit under the barrel and it works a treat!

Trying to hit the Phillipines with that thing?
I have a .44 Marlin carbine, it's a nice shooting piece.

I always liked the long barrel on the 45/70 Cowboys. This is one sweet rifle.
