Told the Bossman he was going to short one man today....
long deserved day off....and I decided to go to the local public range...
**** raised the admition fee from 5 bucks to 10....typical county govt.
Anyway it was worth the 10 smackers....
Started off with my winchester 9422 trapper....1st two targets were at 25 yards...
tried my darndest to keep'em all in the same hole....oh'well
and the next target was at 50 yards...that will take out a squirrel.....or wabbit Next up is my favorite rifle....winchester model 92 in 38-40...using
180 gr RNFP lead bullet...8.5 grains of unique, winch. primers, and starline brass and last up was the winchester model 94 in 44 mag using
240 gr SWC bullet, 5.5 gr of bulleye....very messy powder, winch. primers & brass
first few shots were way off....and grouped about 4 to 5 inches at 50 yards....
this was my best group....i think i need to change my load.....
works fine in the 629...but not my rifle... Pretty good day at the range.....and way better than work!
Nice pics. Sumthin bout the 38/40 cartridge, it just looks RIGHT. Also punches nice clean holes
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!
