Hello from a UK Levergunner.
Hello Levergunners!!!
Just wanted to say Hello!!
I'm new to this forum and reading through it seems to have a mine of useful information!
I am a UK Lever Gunner (couple of Marlin 1894's) in .357. I am a competition shooter, and compete in Events such as the Match 1500. Dont know if that translates directly to any competitions you have in the States or not?
Anyway, thats my hello. Hope to be around for a while and get to know some other Lever gun fans!!
Amazed at some of the stuff that gets hunted with Leverguns in countries other than the UK
Do you really hunt Alligators with Leverguns?? Crazy!!! That is something id love to see!!!

Welcome!
Sure, folks hunt alligators with leverguns. I suspect there are very few game animals world wide that someone in this bunch hasn't dropped with a levergun.

Howdy mate!
I like shooting rattlesnakes and grouse with my levers. Killed a rampaging Bull Mouse in the yard not long ago also.
Ok, so he wasnt really rampaging, but he was stealing the bird seed. 3 grs Unique and a round ball did the trick in a 30-30 tho.

Re: Hello from a UK Levergunner.
Funny coincedence. My favourite target load is 5.4 grains of Unique. With a 158 grain, Lead Truncated Cone.
Which would probably just bounce right off a Bull Mouse!!
I've got some Vectan SP3 Powder here and some 158 grain FMJ truncated cones. I've heard that 16 grains of this stuff will make a nice hole through pretty much anything.

Re: Hello from a UK Levergunner.
Welcome aboard Adam.
I'll throw a batch of scones into the Dutch Oven to go along with your tea, hope you like Lapsang Souchong, it is all I brought this time.
If you've never visited the Garrett Cartridge Company's website, you should go there soon. There are some articles there recounting Vin Lupo's exploits as he took the African Big Five with a Marlin .45-70 lever-gun.
Tell us more about this match 1500 you mentioned. Is it a 1500 yard or meter match? Or is it with weapons from 1500? Or is it 1500 possible points for a perfect score?

Welcome to the fire Adam from down-under. We shoot pigs, goats roos deer and feral dogs with levers just to name some of the pests here abouts. Crocs here would have been taken with levers too, but they are now protected
We have just started at my local club to shoot gallery rifle with our pistol caliber levers, its great fun. Browse around this forum, there is heaps to learn.

Hi Adam and welcome. There are 4 or 5 regular UK members on this forum I live near Croydon, at the other end of the tram line from Wimbledon.
I have 8 leverguns, all except one (Browning 1886) are 19th century originals. I use them for Western, Historic and very occasional
Gallery rifle.

Hi Adam
I am a newboy to this forum and I also think is is geat and a distinct change from th UK shooting scene.
If you in the Bisley area this Saturday morning I expect to be on the Short Siberia. Just look for a guy with an Evans rifle (there won't be many) and that will be me.
Stanforth.

Another G'day Adam, from downunder.
Like you, I shoot the 357 lever in competition, but have heard of one pro shooter here in Oz who used to shoot camels with his 357.
You'll like it here, nice bunch of blokes and truck loads of useful information.

Another hearty welcome from Canada. Here's a fitting photo of an original Winchester Model 1894 chambered in 30 W.C.F. (30-30) made in 1913.
