Levergunning Montana (Update)

Post by Old Savage »

Had a recent trip to Missoula, Montana and one of my hosts took me gopher shooting on a 23,000 acre ranch. Here is one of the little critters that doesn't have to be a gopher any longer. Interesting country up there.

And then of course before I found out how many folks don't like Bud I thought I was really enjoying this part of the ritual.

Image

Now --- then of course --- pretty ladies.

This one is state archery champ!

Image

And this lovely lady who was kind enough to give me a tour of the Missoula Fri nite night life is a World barrel racing champion with the big gold belts to prove it.

Image

Image

And of course then there is this Carhartt gal.

And - don't know how I missed this but her daughter is in the Miss Montana pageant coming up and I did not get a picture.

For morning coffee there was Oh La Latte

My quarters! :D

I think the old expression, "living the life of Riley" needs to be changed to "living the life of Fred" !

Hermann,

Just got off the phone with my Montana shooting host, the ranch boys told him that they had chased a grizzly out of the yard a couple days earlier, not to worry, we had the Model 39 for back up. We were using a Savage 17 HMR for the longer shots - even in the wind it seemed useful to a little over 100 yds - hard to hold in the wind though. Hunting gophers in grizzly country and they have electric fences to keep the wolves out.

Fred
Very small targets. What kind of ammo did you use in your Marlin 39 and how was the performance?
Only one more question - how dangerous were the ladies? :P It seems that it was easier to keep the bears away than not to be a ladykiller. :D

I suspect the blonde could be dangerous but we were good. Thanks for your concern Hermann. :)

Dang! Just can't figure it out. Some guys are just magnets. Do you keep a potato in your pants? (of course, on the front side :D )

Looks like a great time in a great part of our nation. Oh, that animal you shot--do they ever charge? :D ----------------Sixgun
