I'm trying to figure out what is going on.
I've found NO virii/malware on my system(s).
None of my PCs should even be capable of sending an email from anything but a Web Interface right now (shouldn't have been since about 7pm).
Outlook has the "send" function disabled and there are NO contacts in the contact list(s) of either machine for malware to grab.
Anything more comes out like this and it almost HAS to be a spoofed account and datamined emails addys.
I'm working on it.
Sorry.

It's been going on early this AM - when, as far as I can tell both my PCs were OFF - but then, the time-stamps could be wrong too.Alan Wood wrote:What time zone when you say 7 Pm?

I never leave my machines on all day/night. I only have them on while I'm using them, which makes it all the more puzzling since I never "surf"/follow random links and I never open attachments unless I've double-checked them.

Friday adobe warned that acrobat and flash had ongoing exploits
Even if you are patched and current. All it would take is for someone to have placed and add on a site you visit. Worse it sounds like they harvested your email address book. Fixing your pc wont stop the spam if that is the case. The email system was designed back when the defense department could and would kick anyone off of the internet for such things as spam or spoofing senders. Those days are long gone and make no mistake criminals can and do send out email claiming to be from people who did not send it. Often without taking over the alleged senders computer.

Yep - I once got an 'invite' to 'Pics of me from the farm' from my daughter's email address, and since she was working on a 4H photography project and we live on a farm, I clicked it.Alan Wood wrote:Those days are long gone and make no mistake criminals can and do send out email claiming to be from people who did not send it. Those chain mails some here seem to like to share so much, often carry bad bad hitchhikers with them. It is often the sole intention of the author, to craft a message to appeal to a certain crowd, so as to insure excellent and speedy transmission. The funny joke, or dig at Obama, can very possibly be the invention of a viral/social marketing guy who couldn't give a fanny burp about politics, probably not even an American. Many times, the only intent is to fish for addresses, and market research. Could be something much more sinister.

Let's just say the girl in the pics was about twice the age of my 10 year old daughter, it wasn't our farm, and from then on I've never trusted email to the same degree.
I don't believe you. Link?

Re: Spoofed/Hacked eMail Apology..
Just an FYI in case you haven't tried it...but my wifes puter got a nasty little bug...I knew it was there, but Norton didn't see it, so I tried McAffe, and it didn't see it...then on the recommendation of a friend I loaded Malware Bytes, and Bingo...it got it and eliminated it. What's best is that it was the freeware that nailed it...not a buy it program....so you may try that just in case it might find it.
