OT - New Western Movie
Jonah Hex....? Appears to be adapted from a Comic Book. Josh Brolin and Megan Fox.

Looks like some good guns and a hot skirt, but otherwise probably silly....

Re: OT - New Western Movie
probably just another with too much sex and skin and un factual stuff shooting that never was done or could be, guns and leather gear that don't fit the time period, probably couldn't let my kids watch if so i don't care to see it. Don't care how pretty mega fox is.
Re: OT - New Western Movie
just wasted 3 minutes watching the preview. Hollywood just seems to get dumber and dumber.

Jeez guys, it's based on a comic book.
Why would a reasonable fellow have any expectation that it might be "realistic"?

Bingo. Comic book. If you go in expecting comic-book story and action, you'll probably be pleased. If you go in expecting Lonesome Dove, you're going to be disappointed.FWiedner wrote:Jeez guys, it's based on a comic book.

Megan Fox is not hard to look at, but she is a prima donna and dumb as a box of rocks. Life is going to get tough for her when her youth and looks fade...

with all its shortcomings, an entertaining movie, a code hero, and still a better plot than this:
"Bounty hunter Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) in the late 19th century is tracking down voodoo practitioner Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich), who plans to free the Confederate South with an army of the undead."

You are selling one of the best Westerns of all time far short by comparing it to this one, pard. They ain't nothin' wrong with "Quigley Down Under!"
What "Dirty Harry" did for the .44 Mag, "Quigley" did for the .45-70 family of cartridges (.45-110), the paper patched bullet, and the Sharps rifle!

Re: OT - New Western Movie
I enjoyed Quigley immensely when it was at the theaters, and I sent everyone I knew there to watch it.
It was a bit high on melodrama, the villain was effete and silly, the plot was a tad on the pc side.
It was rounded out by a woman worth looking at, an excellent character portrayal by Tom Selleck, authentic costumes and great firearms.
I just chimed in with it because it fits this quote and answers the same question:

Re: OT - New Western Movie
Good call on all counts. I think they intentionally portrayed the villain as quoted because it made him the ultimate coward, empowered by his own perception that he was the best handgun shot around. You really didn't like that guy, which made for the great surprise ending.bulldog1935 wrote:I enjoyed Quigley immensely...It was a bit high on melodrama, the villain was effete and silly, the plot was a tad on the pc side...a woman worth looking at, an excellent character portrayal by Tom Selleck, authentic costumes and great firearms...

Hot brass hitting a horse with rider from two gatling guns. I almost want to see the actor on that short ride.

Add to Quigley the fact that Tom Sellick has the right idea on being an American and I would tell you I will go to any movie he makes just to support his character and politics.

Re: OT - New Western Movie
Jonah Hex looks and sounds like a sequel to Sharon Stone's "Quick and the Dead". I am sure it will become one of my favorite movies for accuracy, good acting and grand scenery. Can't wait. . . . . .

Re: OT - New Western Movie
I never got too much into the comic books. As far as westerns go, I watch some, but don't care for most of what Hollywood puts out these days. I grew up on John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Clint Walker, and even the comical Spaghetti Westerns with Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer playing Trinity and Bambino. Megan Fox's looks are just not enough to interest me in a comic book western even if she shows a lot of skin. I would rather go see Shrek.
