...behind the pivot on the action bottom. Will trade a couple of vintage Western hardbacks for the effort.
Have rec'd my 'new' crescent-butt stock for the .25-35 Bienke reline'd 336. When the truck ran over the grip area it also mangled the lever loop. It was apparently straightend on a brick with a hammer, so is pretty lumpy looking. Since I have to re-do it [couldn't find a lever for sale: Numrich, etc]], I'd like to continue with the retro flavor by shaping the repaired lever to a early vintage outline.
Also, serious thinking about a half button magazine rifle fore end, but wouldn't knowwhere to start looking for the metal and wood on that project. sure would be nice to have a half-mag, vintage short rifle, tho [think Win 55]
TIA for any thots,
JohnM

Here is a 1950 336. They were changed several times over the years. Brophy (sp?) shows about 8-10 different lever styles for the 336 over the years. Print and doodle until it looks right to you.

Chuck and Airdaleman,
Thanks for the advice, pics, and tracings.
Now, a little TIG'ing to build up the bent/warped areas of the fingerloop, install the new Numrich stock, and the old girl will be lookin' a whole lot better.
