Always have had a fascination with U.S. military history. Here's a brief history on Alaska- [url]http://www.elmendorf.af.mil/library/fac ... d=5304/url]

Elmendorf! Once was enough. BRRRR. I'm a SoCal kid. Thank heavens it was a very short stay. About as much fun as Ramstein AFB on July 4th 1975. Trying to watch fireworks in the rain for heavens sake. And they sent me there from sunny Spain. The military mind just boggles the imagination.

My family lived on Ft. Wainwright from 1961-1966 during the Viet Nam buildup. There wasn't much going on there at that time which made it an absolutely wonderful place for boys to grow up. After all these years I still have not experienced the hunting and fishing paradise that that place was. If I could live my life over, I would take pains to really enjoy every minute of that time and place.
