My brother's house was broken into and robbed recently. The thieves got 4 of his 5 guns, they didn't find the AR-15 he kept loaded.
I'm going to upgrade my safe and have decided to give him the small safe I have in the house now.
I also decided to give him a Marlin that I recently bought. It's a 336CS in 30-30, tonight I mounted a scope I had laying around and boresighted it for him. When I take the safe to him I'm going to give him the 30-30 too.
He's had a tough time the last few years, single dad raising two girls. We try to help out all we can, getting robbed was kind of the last straw. I knew the guns would be his last priority in getting the stolen stuff replaced.
Now if I can get him to come down here to Texas and go hog hunting with me!

A big BA dog might be just the ticket, too. I have three here that look after things when I'm away.

That's another thing ... they had a boxer pup just about raised, when either it got into something that killed it, or someone poisoned it. Girls got home from school one day and found the boxer dead. That wasn't any fun.
I suspect they have another dog, but I haven't asked about it.
Warhawk, sorry to hear about your brother's troubles. Just a little advice from a guy who used to take burglary reports. Have your brother bolt the safe to the wall studs or floor joists. Burglars have been making it a habit to take the whole safe. Plus, have your brother try and keep a concerted watch on his place for about the next month or so. Thieves also have a habit of ripping someone off and giving them a little bit of time to replace the things they took and they'll hit them again. Especially since they got some firearms.
The rifle will certainly help get him on his feet again- he now has a varmint / survival gun (M16) and a deer gun. He is well on the way to being back in business.
