OT - AR trigger job gunsmith

Post by 348nut »

Hello the Forum,

I am new here and was browsing the other day and saw a post about a gunsmith that did AR trigger jobs. I cannot remember where I was on the forum and a search gives so many hits I still have no luck.

Anyone got the dope?

Thanks,

AR trigger job gunsmith

Post by 348nut »

Thanks for the advice Idahoser.

I built my RRA AR/223/458 and know about the trigger parts etc.

What caught my eye was a post about some AR wizard gunsmith that did them for about $30 and had a lot of success with compliments. All you had to do was send him the trigger/sear components.

My next AR will come with a match trigger set from the getgo.

Thanks again,

A word of caution on AR trigger jobs. The parts are cast metal that have been surface hardened and under the hardening, the metal is very soft. I did a trigger job to my AR when I was in college. It had a nice pull but after a few rounds of the parts rubbing on each other, the gun had a nasty habit of bouncing off (full auto for a couple or three rounds). That was not good. I recommend that you get some good quality match trigger kits or the new "all in one" trigger/hammer/sear kits that are on the market today. They are a nice hunting style trigger that you can set to your own tastes.

I seem to remember that JP enterprises offers good single stage triggers.

I am very pleased with the Timney drop-in trigger module. Match grade all the way.

I second this one....
I have over the years used various match triggers, Jewell, JP, etc and I now prefer the Timney above all the rest! :D
