What do some of you think should be the number 1 gun to manufacture again?

My vote goes for the Winchester model 94 SRC. Exact replica. Exact!

Can we make our voices heard and thus make it happen?

But personally, I would love to see the Ithaca side-by-side sidelock 12 gauge again.

There isn't a bad gun mentioned here. But I have to go with the 1894 SRC exactly as Winchester built it in 1894.

That is if I had to choose only one.

While I don't think it could be the #1 gun in terms of market demand/marketability, I would dearly love a new Colt Lightning .22 cal pump-action rifle.

I'm going with the model 88, in both rifle and carbine versions. I'd like to see it in original calibers .284 and .358. Maybe even a factory high grade version with Mannlicher stock and 19" barrel. Just the thought..

I don't know, I am afraid it would be a lost cause, because the manufactures never seem to quite get it right. They always have to screw up the design with some dammed added safety device, or cut corners by introducing some darned plastic or aluminum part where it was originally brass or steel, etc.

But I wouldn't mind seeing a 95 Winchester carbine in 30-06, true to the original.

Or maybe another run of Parker side by sides.

And I would love to have a really nice 1898 Krag Jorgensan carbine.

As for handguns,

Heckler & Koch HK-4 - first space age alloy gun (nylon and composites for frame) with interchangeable barrels, magazines and firing pin for .22 LR, .25 ACP, .32 ACP, .380 ACP (9mm Kurz / 9mm Corto). Double action near replica of PPK, 18.34 oz. unloaded.

Even in .380 only, a sweet shooting, accurate, reliable, and extremely light weight hideout gun and woman's gun, great with the newer .380 ACP ammo now available. Takedown was quick and moron simple - move up lever in front of trigger and pull slide back, then slide back and remove barrel from slide. The best .380 ever manufactured, bar none.

yeah, but at least 1 chambered in the .356wcf. and all ammo manufactures' to go out of their way to MASS PRODUCE THE .356 CARTRIDGE IN 180, 220 AND 250 GRAINS!

I think that it would be nice to make the pre-'64 '94's again. For me that's the easiest choice.

I also would like them to make the OM, three screw Blackhawks again.

I'm in full agreement with ya. They could produce them in std., hi, and custom grades and I'd say it would be well received. The unfortunate few, who don't have one of the 7 million previous versions would leap at the chance to have an "original." And, some of those of us that do have one, would also, even if it was made in Japan. It will undoubtedly never see regular production again.

Ya know, I've just now thought maybe Uberti will make a fine replica of the Winchester model 94 SRC. Not hold'in my breath but maybe they are they ones to bug about it.

O.K. I just put in my request with Uberti at their site. Hope some of you will do the same. They just might be the best bet of all manufacturers for a replica of the Winchester model 94 SRC. Too, expect they'd be more likely to make it without the modern safety devices than Winchester.

The exact copy of the long tang M-71 ,bolt peep and all with a new cartridge based on the 348 case and T&D. The new cartridge would be in 338 cal.with a 35 deg sholder and min body taper.Brush or plain's,bring it on!!! My dream....................

I like the idea of a detachable-box-magazine levergun, so, either

a) a Savage 99 in .460 S&W or 500 S&W or even .444 Marlin, OR
b) a Ruger 96 in .357 Mag, .357 Maximum, .32-20, .44-40, or even .45 ACP.

or

c) if it could be designed to handle the pressures, a Ruger 96 in the .454 Casull.

+1 to the Pre War 94 SRC, specifically appx pre mid-1920's (I.e., carbine butt, ladder sight on most)--with options for those wanting shotgun butts and semi-buckhorn sights--just as you could special order in the old days.

2) 92 SRC, adding .357, .44 Mag and .45 LC. Only #2 on my list since Chiappa is already making a darn fine 92 (and now 86) and existence of non-safety Brownings out there makes this slightly "less urgent" than the Pre War 94.

3) Win .88--in .308 of course and other original cal's and adding 7mm-08.

To those wanting Uberti to build an "original" '94--if Win/Browning won't--they'd be good, but Chiappa (see 92/86 above) might be just as likely.

LATER EDIT: to me, though an Italian 94'd be ok, that one ideally would stay as close corporately to the U.S. "Winchester" as possible--at least Browning/Miroku--as they have the closest association and obviously correct tooling as evidenced by the limited editions they're making (well, they've got at least basic jigs and tooling; get rid of the AE/safety/rebounding hammer features)...And, because so many "regular Pre 64s" (basically war and post war 1941-1963) still exist and will for a good long while, the only real point to the exercise would be the Pre War 1894's: SRCs, Trappers ("baby carbines") short rifles and rifles in their precise, original configurations.

Since short guns seem to be under-represented, let me ask for a new copy of the Merwin-Hulbert Pocket Army, chambered in .44 S&W Special.

And how about the entire line of Smith 7 Wesson revolvers without that blank-dashed key lock and with the firing pins where the good Lord and Horace Wesson intended them to be. On the HAMMER!!

I'd also love to see S&W bring back the grip safety on their Centennial Series revolvers. It really isn't needed but it's a far sight better than a blank-dashed key lock!!

i'd also love to see Savage re-introduce the Fox line of double-barreled shotguns. Make them with good quality and modest prices, just like in the old days.

Speaking of the 'The Old Days," I'd sure love to see a total repeal of GCA "68, and the NFA 1934 as unconstitutional, but I ain't gonna hold my breath.

While I'm making impossible wishes, I might as well wish for a good quality side-by-side double rifle, with sidelocks chambered in the classic British Dangerous Game cartridges and priced under $2,000.00

My thoughts(all US made)

Mod. 92 in 44 Mag. with Octagon barrel
Model 94 Win...made here, no lawyer stuff would be nice.
Double barrel Shotgun like the Rem. 1900, with same slim stock dimensions.
1858 Remington in 44/45 cal.
Spencer Rifle in 44 Special
Missisppi Rifle in original 54 RB barrel
Buck's 86/92 rifle would be pretty nice too!

I would love levers with 24" to 26" barrels readily available, in blued and walnut. Anyone with a hacksaw can make a barrel shorter, but it's sure tough to stretch them.

I would love the Winchester 71 configuration with more calibers available, like the .33 Winchester.

+ 1 I have a Marlin tip-up in .32 rimfire, always thought it would be fun to have one you could safely shoot. Not that I'd be allowed to own a "shooter" over here.

colt loses a lot of money buy overpricing their guns. granted, their good, but with all the the clones, priced at 1/3 the cost, with decent quality, colts
cutting their own throat. but, what do i know?
