OT H322 and Hornet????
Say guys, have any of you tried H322 in the little Hornet case?
I have used differant slow powders in it to finish a can off and also Blue dot but I have not tried H322. I have some left over from when I was trying it for the 30/30 but stopped trying the moment I got a result with BLC 2. At the mo I use H4227 in the Hornet, H322 can't be much slower! What do ya think?

Nath,
I did try a capacity load at one time and as I recall, (can't locate the data / target) it shot fairly well..... sub 1" group at 50 yards.
I did find some data and a target that I shot with a capacity load of 4895 which is a little slower burning than H322. A 5 shot group went .70" @ 50 yards with a velocity of a little over 1,600 f.p.s. with a 45 gr. Speer bullet.
That would be the equivalent of the old .22 W.C.F. load which pushed a 45 gr. lead bullet (instead of jacketed) @ 1,580 f.p.s.

I've never tried the 322...
LilGun is best for top velocity. AA1680 is probably my overall favorite. It's very easy to load, gives velocities only second to LilGun, and is CONSISTENT. Good stuff.
Where did you get 45gr fmj bullets?

IMO the biggest challenge one faces when loading the Hornet is lack of neck tension. This issue is further exacerbated by primer selection. If one loads a projectile into an empty primed case and drops the hammer one will probably find said projectile lodged in the rifling. I do not know if any one manufactures Hornet cases with small rifle primers(small pistol would be preferable). Too much brisance for the job at hand. Also be sure to use proper diameter bullets. Good Luck. 1886.
