Unusual (maybe?) Rossi 92

Post by Bruce Scott »

It has a brass coloured receiver and nosecap (maybe buttplate too). The seller mentions stainless barrel & "rare custom checkering" but nothing about the brass.

Does anyone know if Rossi 92s were produced with brass or brass plated receivers?

Hi Bruce,
Other than the checkering that gun is still available. At least in 45lc. For awhile they were available in 357m too.
Here's a 357m carbine I did for a feller awhile back.

Here's another one that got some rawhide and tacks.

OBTW, These are solid brass not plated. th

Years ago Rossi did do some plated steel guns. But they were upgraded guns with better wood and engraving.

Not so unusual, I have one as pictured. I bought it for momma and then she didn't like it. I added a Taurus tang sight and it shoots much better thanI do.

Till now I had not seen one in brass. It's in .44 Mag, BTW.

If it's a 44mag it is unusual. Rossi didn't do any in 44mag because of the brass receiver, just 357m and 45lc. If it's no a plated gun but a brass frame gun I don't that I woulf trust it.

Interesting.... I don't know if it will help ID it but the serial # given in the ad is SM048002.

My interest wasn't really more than passing but I might Email the seller and ask for a magnet test.
