I had to replace the bolt on a 348 Winchester.
Fit seemed good and the check of head space was good with the new bolt, without any cutting.
Afterward, I noticed that if the lever was closed "hard" , then when opening the bolt , the two vertical locking bars seemed to be sticking.
Note: I have not yet test fired with the new bolt.
I then noticed that the lever seemed to not close all the way. May be 50 to 75 thou from full closure against the lower tang.
Can someone tell me whether the two vertical cuts in the bolt should be stoned or the bolt face be cut or some other preferred way to get this corrected.

Re: Question On Bolt Replacement on Win 348 Mdl 71 Lever Rifle
Are the locking bars also new? You might try polishing the grooves on the bolt that the bars slide into. Something is binding and I suspect that it is the bolt and lugs not fitting properly. I have done the same thing and encountered the exact difficulties.
