Beam me up Scottie. Where's Scottie?

Post by kimwcook »

I just reviewed Old Savage's post on his buddies Shiloh Sharps and someone says ScottT should chime in pretty soon w/some info. It got me thinking I haven't seen him post on this forum. Is he boycotting? Out of country, puter broke? Inquiring minds just inquiring.

He did reply on the other site. The discussion went on both sites. But thanks for following.

You're welcome. That's why I go to the forums to see what's going on.

I liked ScottT's info on Big Nose Kate (I have a Shiloh Sharps #1 in 45/70) and his point of view. Even if he is a barrister.

Why thank you for the welcome!

Spent a good part of the afternoon shooting the Sharps over a pair of take down aluminum cross sticks. Have a great zero at 100, and now need to start working out in 10 yd increments to 300.

Getting ready for Africa in May and Del Rio in December.

Yahoo. Sharps rifle stuff. I'm all ears and my pencil and papers standing by.

Now that I've picked up the Winnie '86 in 45/90 and have the Sharps in 45/70 it's time to get serious with loads.

Want Sharps stuff? How about this? My order was confirmed last week for the following:

#3 Sporter
Half-octagon 26" barrel in 50-70
Military buttstock, semi-fancy walnut (might get upgraded)
Rounded-profile fore end with no fore end cap, semi-fancy walnut, see above
Single trigger set at 3#
Old fashioned bone/charcoal color case hardening
Buckhorn rear sight, blade front.

Finished weight should go 8.5-9 pounds. This is based upon an original converted '63 military carbine I looked at about ten years ago, except it lacks a lever lock. As a coincidence, it ends up being nearly identical to the rifle "Doc" carried in "Young Guns".

That's great. I'll bet you can't wait. I was lucky enough that the two I bought, only have one now,Venturino had in stock. As far as I know he doesn't do it anymore, but at the time he did. My waiting time was like a week on both.
