Girl with lever and Colt, old photo.

Post by rangerider7 »

I don't remember if I have put this one on before, but that looks like a Bisley Colt to me. So many of the women photos made during this time have them with Bisley models. I think it was because of the trigger location being closer on a Bisley than a Colt SAA. What do you think?

Wonder what the date was...?

That old Winchester looks to be pretty well 'used...'

Was it hers...?

She's gonna have trouble shootin' that ammo in that carbine, by golly.

Hmmm......

Do they still make gals like that?

Yeah, lack of ammo is not her problem.

Just that it doesn't fit the Winchester...

Must be another example of the "Viagra factor". Everybody wants to be seen with ammo so huge they can't use it. Let's see, Steven McQween had 45-70s in his belt for his 92 mare's Leg. There was that stupid movie "the Bear" where the guy is cutting cross marks in the tip of a bullet he was never going to stuff in that 66 (or henry??) he carried. Some directors just need smacked

I believe the cartridge in "the Bear" was a 45-75, and the rifle was an 1876 model.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

Yeah, they still make ladies like that, and I'm married to one. She thinks nothing of shooting very stout loads in my converted Siamese Mauser in .45-70 and shoots three inch 12 gauge magnum slugs for fun. She loved shooting my .338 Winchester Magnum off the bench rest until I sold it. I miss that rifle, and so does she.

I'll leave the gun stuff to the experts here...and sit back and learn.

But...does that hat she's wearing look like it fits her right to you guys? Maybe something staged about the whole look?

It's a photo studio photo. She used the hat and props available. Circa 1910?

If them're live rounds... good thing she's seated! Them're some LONG exposure times on those glass plate cameras!

Here's a not so old photo of a girl with a Colt and a lever.

I've probably posted it before, but this is my daughter with her Colt Frontier Scout and 9422.

You best keep those guns handy to keep the boys away. :D . There were a few of my daughters I met at the door with a hammer in my hand. :|
