Marlin 39a 20" price

Post by Crazy Horse »

I saw a Marlin 39a for sale yesterday. It had what appeared to be a 20" barrel. It was an older model without a safety but did have the warning on it. I would rate it at least 90%. I usually see the model with the longer barrel. This is the first one I have seen with this barrel length in a long time. They had $399 on it. Is this about right?

I have seen some recently, including today at the gun show for $300-$399 depending on condition and vintage. I saw only one 20" barrel recently and the asking price was $375.

If it had a straight stock (39A Mountie), then the price was very good and the rifle will probably be gone by the time you go back....big demand. If it had a pistol grip (39D), then the price was GREAT and was probably bought by the next person in the shop....rare.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

That is about right. Most seem to have a rounded lever but some have a squared off one. Good ones are increasingly hard to find.

This gun has the straight stock with the squared off lever. I don't remember mountie being written on it anywhere.
